Molecular Portrait
When research results of a rich western countries such as The Netherlands or the USA are compared to research results of a Third World country like Indonesia, the results are different. There are many differences in both the incidence of cervical cancer and the stage in which it is usually discovered for example. This raises the question whether the cause and the course of the disease are different from each other in different countries. Due to the close collaboration between Leiden gynecologists and doctors in Surinam, South Africa, Indonesia and research staff at the Leiden University, it is possible to look for answers.
