FCP Foundation objectives
To create a world without cervical cancer
In February 2006 the Female Cancer Program Foundation was founded in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The foundation aims to eradicate and prevent cervical cancer and to support related scientific research. In the realization of this purpose the activities focus on high incidence areas. The foundation strives to reach its goals by supporting aspects of AccA developed within the Leiden University Medical Center, by stimulating scientific research on cervical cancer and related abnormalities or treatment skills, by developing screening and down staging programs, by treating patients with cervical cancer in high incidence areas, by sending qualified personnel to high incidence areas, by giving information, education and training on cervical cancer and by cooperating with international networks and governments on programs related to the goals of the foundation.

The FCP Foundation intends to create a world without cervical cancer through the following strategies:
• To make health facilities accessible for all women, wherever they live;
• To educate women and men about all aspects of sexual and reproductive health with an emphasis on Sexual Transmitted Diseases (“Awareness and Education”);
• Introduce cost-effective prevention strategies in the developing world, and evaluate the effect and impact on the different societies;
• To support “Women Organizations” in the developing world, which are active in the communities and are promoting health and influencing life style, as these activities are important and effective in the fight against cervical cancer;
• To introduce the principles of good governance and transparency with all the participating institutes, within the European Community and in the Developing World;
• To do the utmost to build capacity for screening and treating cervical cancer and other sexually transmitted diseases within the partner organizations in Asia, Africa and South America;
• To implement “teach the teachers” and “train the trainers” education to stimulate a broader cadre and develop autonomy of the participants in due time. These programs are running on all levels from Universities to “grass roots” level;
• To stimulate research in medical centers in the developing world. Especially on aetiology, clinical behaviour, prevention and treatment of cervical cancer, but also sexually transmitted diseases and other gender related diseases such as breast cancer;
• To do “fundraising” for the above-named activities and organizations.
